Eva Folks

My painting style is illustrative.  Words and phrases that capture my attention are the creative inspiration for my paintings.  My medium is acrylic paint on canvas, paper, and recently wood board.

Being creative has always been an important part of my life.  After high school I tried a variety of careers in the business world.  Only years later did I realize that I needed a vocation with creativity so I decided to change my career path.

In 1995 I started painting murals and faux finishes for clients in the GTA.  In 2006, encouraged by friend and artist Judy Sherman, I began putting my ideas on canvas.  By 2011, I was sure I wanted art to be my sole career and have been taking the steps necessary to do this.

I'm happy to have complied a wide range of paintings in a style I refer to as Surreal Life Studies, where buildings are on the verge of toppling, animals drive cars, and classic rides rule!

I reside in Aurora, Ontario, Canada with my cabinetmaker/designer husband David, our dogs Lucky and Chester, and our parrot ‘Green Man’.
